Ils ont tout d’abord étudié le temps de chargement moyen d’une page web en fonction du pays. Résultat : les Néerlandais et les Israëliens sont les mieux lotis avec un temps moyen d’une seconde, tandis que les Chinois et les Brésiliens souffrent de temps de chargement 5 fois plus longs.
Les causes de ces disparités, selon Clicktale :
- la performance de l’infrastructure du pays
- le taux de pénétration du haut débit dans le pays
- la puissance du matériel utilisé
- le type de site visité
Clicktale a ensuité étudié le temps moyen qu’un visiteur passe à regarder une page web, et surprise, on retrouve les mêmes extrêmes.
Plus les pages sont longues à charger, plus les utilisateurs prennent le temps de les lire. Mieux : pour chaque seconde supplémentaire de temps de chargement, les internautes passent six secondes de plus sur la page.
Ces résultats peuvent sembler étonnants, mais ils sont finalement logiques. L’interprétation de Clicktale est en effet toute simple : avec une bonne connexion, il est facile de changer de page, ce n’est pas contraignant. A l’inverse, avec une mauvaise connexion, on y réfléchit à deux fois avant d’aller voir autre chose.
Vous pensiez que cette différence de comportement était culturelle ? Eh bien non, c’est humain !
