10 conseils pour exploiter pleinement del.icio.us
Web | Tags : del.icio.us, recherche, social bookmarking, tutoriel Ajouter un commentaireDel.icio.us est un outil génial. C’est l’outil que le monde attendait pour retrouver ce qu’il avait perdu… Le seul problème, c’est qu’il est (un peu) moche, et (plutôt) difficile à comprendre. Je vous propose donc, après plus d’un an et demi d’utilisation, quelques conseils qui feront de vous un expert en del.icio.us.
Pour ceux qui souhaitent en savoir plus sur ce type d’outil, je vous renvoie à mon billet sur l’intérêt du social bookmarking.
1. L’extension Firefox.
Après avoir créé un compte (de préférence avec un pseudo simple, ce sera utile pour la suite), vous devez impérativement installer l’extension Firefox. Cette extension installera deux petits boutons à gauche de votre barre d’adresse :
Le bouton de gauche permet d’ouvrir le moteur de recherche del.icio.us dans un volet gauche de Firefox. Le bouton de droite permet d’ajouter la page en cours à ses favoris (comme quand on fait “Ajouter un favori” sur Internet Explorer). Maintenant, avec ces boutons, vous êtes prêts à tagger !
2. Bookmarkez et taggez comme des fous !
Quand vous lisez un article, un billet, une étude, une vidéo stupide, quoi que ce soit qui vous semble avoir un minimum d’intérêt, vous le sauvegardez ! Cliquez sur le lien à gauche de la barre d’adresse, une fenêtre Firefox s’ouvre et vous demande des informations. Les champs “Titre” et “URL” sont pré-renseignés. Vous pouvez modifier le titre pour qu’il soit plus pertinent, et il est conseillé d’associer une note au bookmark, pour détailler un peu plus précisément ce dont il s’agit (mais ce n’est pas obligatoire).
Avant de sauvegarder votre bookmark, vous devez ajouter le plus important : des tags. Un tag, c’est un mot-clé. Pour chaque bookmark, vous pouvez ajouter autant de tags que vous le souhaitez. L’idéal est de mettre tous les mots-clés qui vous passent par la tête. Il ne faut surtout pas se restreindre ! Lâchez-vous ! Le but est de retrouver la page sauvegardée dans un mois, 6 mois, un an, donc n’hésitez pas à être précis, on ne peut jamais savoir ce que son cerveau aura retenu ! A noter que del.icio.us vous fait des suggestions de tags, en fonction de vos propres tags existants et de ceux des autres utilisateurs de del.icio.us.
3. Naviguez dans del.icio.us
En haut de page, un petit champ texte très pratique vous permet de chercher directement les tags que vous souhaitez. Ainsi, si je veux afficher tous mes tags SEO (pour “search engine optimisation”, ou référencement), je rentre “SEO” dans le champ, mais si je veux tous mes tags SEO et “tools” (bref, tous les outils en ligne pour le référencement), je tape “seo+tools” dans le champ :
Del.icio.us utilise la même arborescence, très simple, avec les URL. Pour chercher les tags SEO ou SEO+tools, je peux taper directement les adresses web http://del.icio.us/Dzey/seo ou http://del.icio.us/Dzey/seo+tools !
4. Organisez-vous !
Au bout d’un moment, vous aurez une belle petite liste de bookmarks et de tags différents. Parfois vos tags ne seront pas normalisés, vous aurez des tags “blog” et des tags “blogs”, par exemple. Del.icio.us permet de modifier a posteriori le tag “blogs” et l’associer au tag “blog” (lien “arrange tags” en bas du menu de droite).
Vous pouvez aussi créer plusieurs catégories (”Sport”, “Internet”, “Photographie”, par exemple), pour mieux naviguer dans vos tags / mots-clés. Ce n’est pas la peine d’organiser votre compte del.icio.us trop souvent, cinq minutes tous les mois peuvent largement suffir.
5. Découvrez les profils intéressants et suivez leurs parcours
Quand une page a été enregistrée par plusieurs personnes, del.icio.us s’empresse de vous le faire savoir :
Si vous cliquez sur le lien “saved by 55 other people“, vous pouvez aller sur les comptes des autres utilisateurs qui ont enregistré cette page, et comme vous partagez certains intérêts avec elle, vous risquez fortement de trouver d’autres choses qui vous intéressent. On peut facilement passer des heures à naviguer sur les bookmarks des autres, c’est généralement très instructif !
6. Surveillez votre réseau et profitez de la sérendipité
Vous pouvez ajouter chaque utilisateur à votre réseau (lien “add {pseudo} to your network” en haut de page). Au bout d’un moment, vous aurez ainsi tout un réseau de personnes qui cherchent pour vous, et qui évoluent de manière intelligente, ce qui vous fera découvrir une quantité de choses que vous n’auriez pas connu autrement, parfois même dans des domaines que vous ne connaissiez pas, mais qui sont généralement proches du votre. Ce principe de recherche s’approche du principe de sérendipité, et il peut parfois être vraiment très puissant.
7. “Subscriptions” : pour faire de la veille
Del.icio.us aime donc la sérendipité, mais il vous permet également d’être plus précis dans votre veille et de limiter vos recherches. Par exemple, si vous savez que “Coelio” déniche toujours des bon groupes sur myspace, vous pouvez allez sur votre lien “subscriptions” (en haut de page) et demander à ce que del.icio.us vous envoie automatiquement tous les liens taggés “myspace” par l’utilisateur “coelio”. Comme ça, Coelio recherche tous les bons groupes pour vous !
Autre solution pour faire une veille sur le mot-clé d’un utilisateur : aller sur la page de Coelio qui recense tous ses tags “myspace” (URL : del.icio.us/coelio/myspace) et utiliser le flux RSS associé (lien “RSS feed for this page”, en bas de la page).
8. Les liens que d’autres personnes vous conseillent.
Quand vous enregistrez une page, vous pouvez aussi l’envoyer à quelqu’un très simplement, en mettant le tag “for:pseudo-personne”. Si vous voulez me faire part d’un article qui vous semble intéressant, taggez le avec vos propres mots-clés et ajoutez le tag “for:Dzey”. Je le recevrai dans ma rubrique “links for you” :
Votre network va s’étoffer peu à peu, vous y croiserez des profils intéressants, avec les mêmes centres d’intérêts que vous. Vous pouvez même jouer au flemmard et attendre que d’autres dénichent votre profil, généralement ils valent le coup !
9. Le partage des bookmarks hors del.icio.us
Del.icio.us n’est pas un système fermé. Il permet d’effectuer quantité d’actions de publications sur d’autres supports. Pour votre blog, vous pouvez ainsi ajouter la liste de vos dernier liens, créer un nuage de vos mots-clés ou publier automatiquement des billets avec vos derniers bookmarks. Sur Facebook, une application vous propose de partager vos liens dans votre news feed, etc.
10. Pour les bidouilleurs : aller plus loin avec del.icio.us
Bien entendu, comme le système est très ouvert, on peut aller encore plus loin et imaginer tout ce qu’on veut grâce à l’API del.icio.us, ou aux flux JSON (un format d’échange en javascript qui permet de coder simplement des petites applications). La généralisation des flux RSS sur chaque page d’utilisateur, chaque page de tag, etc., permet de développer pas mal de petites fonctionnalités sans trop de difficulté.
On peut par exemple développer un moteur de recherche (avec Google Custom Search, par exemple) qui ne cherchera que dans les pages de contenus que vous avez bookmarkés (sous-entendu : un moteur de recherche hyper-ciblé, sur des contenus que vous avez déjà validés). Pour ceux que ça intéresse, c’est ici (lien sauvegardé il y a 9 mois et retrouvé en 6 secondes sur del.icio.us)
Bref, del.icio.us, avec son système complètement ouvert, peut offrir des possibilités extrêmement intéressantes. Et la communauté est très active, pour preuve ce listing de tous les outils pour exploiter del.icio.us. Vous y trouverez sans doute votre bonheur !

Reste le problème des tags, parfois je ne sais pas comment classer un lien, il existe le système Dewey qui classe par catégorie et sous-catégorie comme Yahoo mais y a-t-il des alternatifs?

J’utilise delicious depuis plusieurs années et depuis quelques jours j’ai la désagréable surprise de constater que, lorsque je me connecte sans mot de passe, toutes mes bandles sont vides… Les tags, qui étaient bien sagement rangés dans ces bandles sont maintenant en vrac dans la catégorie “unbundle tags”. Lorsque je me connecte avec mon mot de passe, tout est en ordre…
Que faut-il faire ?

I ‘ve been at The Highwayman right before the Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend, and both of us formed a really great opinion about the place because of the best experience. The food was great and the service was on the high level. The booking was made by me 4 day before attending on Saturday, and we arrived 30 min earlier and decided to spend 30 min at the Bar. Waitress was very kind asking both of us to take a sit at the ordered table 10 min before the booked time. The front of the house staff was also knowledgeable of what they had on a menu that day because we needed gluten free dishes and puddings. As I mentioned before, food was great and well served and presented. My girlfriend was really happy that we spent our Valentine’s Day at this restaurant and I bet it was one of many visits to such a friendly and lovely place, as my girlfriend said. Best regards from both of us to all members of staff. Surely one of the best Ipswich restaurants.
